(1) With regard to the section of the Bass Highway west of Boat Harbour to Smithton, and particularly the overtaking lanes through Sisters Hills, is the Government aware that this section of road, which has a high volume of heavy traffic, has become very dangerous, especially in wet weather? The road-marking lines are barely visible.

(2) Are repairs and maintenance to the Sisters Hill section of the highway scheduled in the near future? If so, what is the time frame for these repairs?

With regard to demands on the Tasmanian Risk Management Fund, Last year’s Budget paper Number 1 stated:

The expected overall increase in contributions for 2018-19 is mainly due to increases in both workers’ compensation and medical liability contributions. The significant increase in workers’ compensation contributions is primarily as a result of higher claim costs in recent years, higher staff costs and a deterioration in the funding level of this risk category.

QUESTION:

Tasmania has only one public clinic dealing with chronic pain, the Persistent Pain Clinic in Hobart at the Royal Hobart Hospital. This clinic has long waiting lists both for the initial information session and for a multidisciplinary assessment appointment. The waiting times, distance to treatment and need for multiple appointments mean patients from the north of the state are severely disadvantaged regarding access to care.
