Ms FORREST question to LEADER of the GOVERNMENT in the LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL, Mrs HISCUTT

With regard to the area on the Murchison Highway impacted by a landslip on the northern approach to the Yolande River crossing some time ago, works have been undertaken to construct a retaining fence to hopefully prevent further rockfalls and landslip event impacts onto the highway.

The question is, is this work completed, or are there additional works to be undertaken in this area to ensure the safety of road users and access to Queenstown from the northern entry?

ANSWER

I thank the member for her question. The works are complete and there are no additional works to be undertaken in the area of the landslip on the Zeehan Highway near the Yolande River at this stage. The landslip area is being monitored three times a week to identify any further material falls from the landslip, but there have been no further issues identified since the repair was completed.
