Ms FORREST question to LEADER of the GOVERNMENT in the LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL, Mrs HISCUTT

With regards to upgrades and capital works projects at the West Coast District Hospital (WCDH), I understand the budget has been approved for the upgrade to the Emergency Department at the WCDH:

1) What is the budget allocation for this upgrade?

2) When will the work commence?

3) What is the expected completion time?

Will an upgrade to the telehealth facilities be included in this work?

a) If so,
    i) What facilities will be provided and
ii) Will a model of care / model of service be implemented to support it?

b) If not, will this be considered in the near future?

Answers:

1) The Australian Government has committed $1 million to upgrade the Emergency Department and the addition of one aged care bed. The Department of Health through the Statewide Rural Hospitals Fund has committed a further $250 000.00 to enhance patient flow through the examination rooms.

2) The works are planned to commence in September 2022, subject to a successful tendering process starting in June 2022.

3) The works will take place in several stages across the hospital precinct with the completion expected in March 2023.
