Ms  FORREST question  to LEADER of the GOVERNMENT in the LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL, Mrs HISCUTT

With regard to the Waiver of the Outstanding Housing Related Debt agreement between the Commonwealth and Tasmania and the letter Treasurer Gutwein has written to the Federal Treasurer regarding the impact on Tasmania's GST and Commonwealth Grants Commission assessment: 

1. Has the State Treasurer received a written response from the Federal Treasurer; 

a. If so, please provide a copy of this response; and 

b. If no response has been received to date, when is a response expected? 

ANSWER: 

The Tasmanian Treasurer has received a written response from the Australian Treasurer confirming that he will direct the Commonwealth Grants Commission to fully exclude the waiver of Tasmania's housing related debt from its GST relativity calculations.
