Ms FORREST question to the LEADER of the GOVERNMENT in the LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL, Mrs HISCUTT
With regard to the proposed new facilities for volunteer ambulance personnel, ambulance vehicles and the community paramedic to be employed on King Island:
1. When will the Development Application for the new building be lodged; and
a. Please provide a copy of the plans for this facility
2. What is the expected timeline for completion of the facility;
3. What is the budget for the facility; and
4. When will the community paramedics be appointed?
ANSWER:
1. It is anticipated the Development Application for the new King Island Ambulance Station will be lodged in May 2025.

2. Construction is expected to be completed by September 2026.
3. In the 2024-25 Budget, the Tasmanian Government committed $5 million for a new Ambulance Station on King Island.
4. The appointment of community paramedics to King Island is progressing. Ambulance Tasmania is working collaboratively with the Tasmanian Health Service and the community of King Island to establish the model of care, with commencement expected before the end of 2025.
