Legislative Council, 1 November 2023
Ms FORREST question to LEADER of the GOVERNMENT in the LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL, Mrs HISCUTT
With regard to the recent termination of the TasPorts Chief Operating Officer and the decision by TasPorts to undertake a review of governance and related matters:
1. What specific matter or matters triggered the decision to undertake a review/reviews;
2. Who is undertaking the review/reviews;
3. Will the outcome of the review be made public; and
a. If so, when is this expected; and
b. If not, why not?
ANSWER:
Q1)
TasPorts is committed to continually reviewing its policies and procedures to ensure not only that they are operationally efficient and legally compliant, but also that they are clear and easily understood.
In this instance matters relating to policy adherence were the trigger for the decision to undertake the reviews.
Q2)
The reviews are undertaken internally. To the extent that external legal advice is required to ensure legal compliance, TasPorts works with specialist legal advisers.
Q3)
As is appropriate, TasPorts conducts an ongoing review of all its policies and procedures. These reviews may result in no changes, amendments to policies, or changes in procedures. Accordingly, there is no ‘outcome’ as such that can be made public. However, should any decisions arise which alters the way that members of the public can interact or do business with TasPorts they will be publicly communicated.
