Ms FORREST question to LEADER of the GOVERNMENT in the LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL, Mrs HISCUTT

With regard to the work commissioned by GHD to investigate possible options for a second Cam River Bridge:

(1) has this work been completed;

(a) if so, please provide a copy of the report;

(b) if not, when will this work be completed and when will the report be released; and

(2) what date will public consultation on the options, including any considered by GHD, be commenced and how will the public be informed?

ANSWER

(1) This work has not yet been completed. The consultancy was awarded to GHD in early March, 2023.

(a) Is not applicable.

(b)(i) Subject to the timing of public consultation, a report is expected to be submitted to the Department of State Growth by mid-December 2023.

(b)(ii) The report will be released in early 2024, after consideration by the Tasmanian Government.

(2) A stakeholder and community engagement plan is currently being developed by GHD and the Department of State Growth. That plan will outline the public consultation methods and expected timings. The consultation methods often used for these types of studies include: a staffed drop-in session; static displays; an interactive website and a stakeholder workshop with representatives from local councils.
