Ms FORREST question to LEADER of the GOVERNMENT in the LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL, Mrs HISCUTT

With regard to disability access ramps for passengers on Gordon River cruise ships wishing to access Sarah Island and Heritage Landing, I am informed that Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) are getting new ramps built. These new ramps have been committed to many months ago.

1. When will the new ramps be installed?

2. Will the new ramps cater for all passengers with mobility challenges?

ANSWER:

The Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) is responsible for the maintenance of the jetties on Sarah Island and Heritage Landing.

The movable aluminium access ramps used to move clients between the jetties and the cruise ships are the property of the cruise operators, who are responsible for providing and maintaining the ramps.

PWS is engaging with the Gordon River Cruise to support the company to resolve this matter.
