Ms FORREST question to LEADER of the GOVERNMENT in the LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL, Mrs HISCUTT

With regard to the review undertaken by the Tasmanian Office of the Economic Regulator (OTTER) into King Island freight costs and related matters, noting the Report has been received by the Government:

1. When will this Report be made public; and

2. When will a formal Government response be made public?

ANSWER:

1. While there is no obligation under the Economic Regulator Act to publish Prescribed Body Inquiry reports, the Treasurer asked the Regulator to prepare a summary of his findings for publication. The Government will consider the Regulator’s advice and will publish the Regulator’s summary report before 30 September 2023.

2. The Treasurer’s intention is to respond to the report soon after it is published.
