A PETITION calling on the health minister to restore more regular medical services to Strahan has been tabled in the upper house.

The petition, signed by 355 people, was tabled by Murchison independent MLC Ruth Forrest on Tuesday.

"This petition was instigated well before the issues around COVID-19," Ms Forrest said.

The petition said ahead of the peak visitor season Strahan lost the services of a full-time doctor.

"A doctor will only be in attendance at the clinic for three days per week and the surgery will be closed entirely for the remaining four days," it said.

"Nursing services have been ceased in Strahan and will not be provided at any time during the week.

"We believe it is essential medical services are available to the general population and visitors who have no means of travelling 45 minutes over winding roads."

The petition calls on Health Minister Sarah Courtney to investigate and take action on restoring more regular medical services and for the reinstatement of regular nursing care for Strahan residents and visitors.
