Ms FORREST question to LEADER for the GOVERNMENT in the LEGISLATIVE
COUNCIL, Ms RATTRAY
Question:
- With regard to the State Budget to be introduced on 6 November:
1.1. Please provide a copy of the Treasury’s detailed internal budget timetable.
1.2. Will the Appropriation Bills (1 and 2) be accompanied by a full set of budget papers;
1.3. Will three Budget Paper volumes, namely Budget Paper 1, Budget Paper 2 – Volume 1 and Budget Paper 2 – Volume 2 be tabled with the Appropriation Bills (1 and 2);
1.3.1. If so:
1.3.1.1. Will these provide the level of detail that is usually included in these Budget Papers;
1.3.2. If not;
1.3.2.1. why not; and
1.3.2.2. what level of detail will be provided?
Answer:
1.1. Provided in Appendix 1. Note that the timeline is subject to change based on circumstances.
1.2. Appropriation Bills (1 and 2) will be accompanied by a set of Budget Papers, prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Financial Management Act 2016.
1.3. Yes.
The 2025-26 Budget, Budget Papers will provide considerable detail relative to previous Budget Papers.
Given the short timeframe for preparation of the Budget Papers and as flagged by the Government on 7 September 2025, the Budget Papers will be presented in a streamlined format.
