Ms FORREST question to LEADER of the GOVERNMENT in the LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL, Dr GOODWIN

[2.31 p.m.]

Mr President, this is a supplement to my question last week, part of which was not answered.

(1)  With regards to individuals with disabilities who are under 65 years of age and currently use the services provided by Community Transport Services Tasmania Inc for educational services outside the region in which they reside; will there be any changes to the services they access?

(2)  With regards to individuals with disabilities who are under 65 years of age and currently use the services provided by Community Transport Services Tasmania Inc for health-related or other services outside the region in which they reside; will there be any changes to the services they access?

(3)  If there are changes resulting in a gap between the conclusion of services provided by the Community Transport Services Tasmania and the implementation of the NDIS, how will these individuals access appropriate services?

ANSWER

Mr President, I thank the honourable member for Murchison for her question.

The State Government is not aware of any planned changes to Community Transport Services Tasmania.  As the NDIS continues to roll out, the provision of additional transport services for people living with disability will fall under the NDIS. This again will not impact on the provision and availability of community transport services to those living with disability who will be able to be allocated transport under their NDIS care plan, and so we do not anticipate any gaps in service.
