Ms FORREST question to LEADER of the GOVERNMENT in the LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL, Mrs HISCUTT

(1) With regard to contract variations related to the QuayLink project:

(a) How many variations to the contract have been made to date;
(b) What is the value/cost of each variation; and
(c) What is the reason for each variation?

(2) With regard to QuayLink project contract variation V03 – Various items, please provide:

(a) a breakdown of all item/aspects of this variation;
(b) the costs associated with each item/aspect related to V03; and
(c) the total costs related to this contract variation;

(3) With regard to consultant costs associated with the QuayLink project:

(a) What is the budgeted cost for consultants on this project;
(b) What is the projected final costs of consultants on this project; and
(c) Please provide a breakdown of individual contractor costs and location of head office; and

(4) What is the expected final cost of the QuayLink project?

ANSWER:
1)
a. Due to the size and staging of the QuayLink Project, many contracts have been, are being and will be implemented by TasPorts across the life of the project. Variations to scope form part of proper contract management and are a common occurrence pursuant to the terms of a consultancy or construction contract. Variations are imposed where required for best for project outcomes and are managed within the project budget and commercial agreement parameters. The contracts and associated variations (including their costs) for the QuayLink Project are of a commercially confidential and sensitive nature and accordingly such details cannot be disclosed.
