Legislative Council, Tuesday 28 March 2023

Ms FORREST asked the Deputy Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council, Ms PALMER

With regard to the new gaming machine licencing arrangements to take effect in hotels and clubs from 1st July 2023, particularly the effects of the mandatory pre commitment card on government revenue:

1) When will figures be available showing the impact of this policy introduction over the forward estimates?

ANSWER:

The Budget Papers for 2023-24 will reflect the impact on revenue from the new gaming licensing arrangements that commence from 1 July 2023.

The player card gaming system is a separate reform. The Government has announced that this reform will be implemented by the end of 2024. The details of this reform are currently being worked through and revenue impacts will be reflected in the 2024-25 Budget.
